Having studied and graduated as a Primary school teacher and worked in childcare for many years, I thought that I knew what it was to be cautious when it came to child safety, that was until I had my daughter……

Bumpsters Limited was formed at the beginning of 2008.

At that time, I was a new mum to a little girl and was facing many difficult dilemma’s that all parents do in regards to the safety of our children.

Having been warned away from using traditional cot bumpers, I was mortified when, at 12 weeks, my daughter started rolling and hurting herself on an hourly/nightly basis.

Having searched the internet and market for cot protection, I could find nothing that did exactly what I wanted.

I joined parenting forums and asked for advice and again, I received mixed reactions about using cot bumpers.

Having decided for myself that I neither wanted my daughter hurt nor wanted to use bumpers, I took it upon myself to make something that fulfilled all my requirements.

And so originated!

The first set I made was basic to say the least, but still did the trick. The loud thumps and crying had been replaced by peaceful sleep! (please note that Bumpsters do not make babies sleep!!...merely make it safer when they do!)

With many positive comments by friends and family members who had babies themselves, I had a feeling I was on to a good thing so decided that I would develop it further.

With a huge amount of wastage, frustrating design issues and tweaking, the perfect Bumpster was made!

And so to today…..

…with a very small budget I knew that business would start slowly, but a slow and steady stream of orders began and I have not looked back since (well maybe only a few times when my life was not spent in front of a sewing machine!)

With orders nationwide, I have had the most superb and encouraging feedback from parents and guardians and I am very proud and happy that I am able to offer Bumpsters to the public.

A lot of care and time goes into Bumpsters and I would ask anyone who decides to purchase a set, that they please understand that at this moment in time, we are a small family run business and I personally hand make your set to order. So unlike many online companies, delivery is not instantaneous. However, with a little patience, your set will arrive through your door and you will not be disappointed.
